Though dress boots are delicate leather just like fine shoes, they are more often worn in situations more likely to stain the leather. Often on a rainy day, leather dress boots will be chosen rather than shoes to be worn to the office resulting in water stains. And even more so in the snow because they help keep the feet and legs warm. Due to the salt used to prevent icing of streets and sidewalks in cities, this usually results in salt stains especially on fine leather dress boots because the soft leather soaks up the salt water easily.

Thigh high boots, western boots, knee high boots and over the knee boots are all good choices for the snow and rain and look hot as hell when they get wet. They are a much better choice than ladies snow boots, rain boots, muck boots or womens work boots which look like mens boots. Unless ugly is the look you are trying to achieve, Uggs, Ecco boots and Crocs are not a good choice.

Some of you may even have even seen the television reality show Home Time where a woman does construction work in her high heeled boots. She spends the day walking through dirt and mud, uses her high heeled boots to step down on her shovel to force it into the ground, this goes on all day.
